Level II Fieldwork, according to AOTA, is to "develop competent, entry-level, generalist occupational therapists. Level II fieldwork must be integral to the program’s curriculum design and must include an in-depth experience in delivering evidence based occupational therapy services to clients." (AOTA, n.d.)
For my first Level II fieldwork, I had the pleasure of being at George Washington Elementary School for 12 weeks.
The occupational therapist and I provided both direct and indirect services to groups and individual students. Many students had goals with handwriting and legibility, far and near-point copying, and typing. My experience at the school district challenged me to think fast, and creatively, and come up with back-up plans.
CHART Rehabilitation of Hawaii in Honolulu, Hawaii is an outpatient rehabilitation facility with physical, occupational, and massage therapy. Occupational therapists focused on work simulation and work conditioning, where activity analysis and creativity helped prepare patients to return to work. In addition, the OTs offered hand therapy interventions, so I was able to garner experience with different interventions.
